Kenyan mobile network operator Safaricom has appointed Juliana Rotich as its Head of Fintech Solutions.
Ms Rotich will be heading a team expected to explore key developments around fintech, and the future of financial services and M-PESA.

Part of Juliana’s first task at the telco was hosting their inaugural Fintech Innovation Week that brings together thought leaders, our partners, top developers and colleagues from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Lesotho, Ghana, Egypt and other African countries.
Ms Rotich co-founded BRCK and directed the non-profit affiliate’s partnerships until February 2017.
She also worked as a consultant with Novato Africa, where she helped to form relationships that resulted in East Africa’s first aeromobility start-up competition.
She also co-founded Ushahidi, a technology business that focuses on developing free and open source software to alter the way information is shared around the world.
The Top-40-under-40 finalist holds an IT degree from the University of Missouri. She is a board member of BRCK Inc and serves on the Advisory Council BASF, Microsoft 4Afrika and Waabeh Ltd.
