Samsung debuts Galaxy A73, A53 and A33; the specifications

Samsung Electronics unveiled three new Galaxy A models during the Galaxy A event on March 17: the Galaxy A53, Galaxy A73, and Galaxy A33.

Samsung Galaxy A73 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G is the largest of the three, having a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Last year’s A72 had a display of the same size but with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. We never got a 5G version of that phone.

The A73 clearly supports next-generation connectivity. The unidentified processor is paired with 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage, as well as a microSD card that can hold up to 1 TB of additional storage.

The phone now has a 108-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 lens and OIS, which replaces the previous 64-megapixel sensor.

However, because there is no telephoto lens this time, the phone must rely on its high-resolution primary camera to zoom in.

A 12 MP ultra wide camera, a 5 MP macro camera, and a 5 MP depth sensor back the main camera. A 32 MP selfie camera is holed into the display on the front.

The battery remains the same as last year, with a capacity of 5,000 mAh and a charging speed of 25W. The battery is the same in the A53, A33, and even A23.

The Samsung Galaxy A73 5G will be available in a limited number of markets starting April 22, with pricing specifics to be announced later.

Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

A 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate comes standard on the Galaxy A53 5G. The 32 MP selfie camera is built into the display through a punch hole.

The main camera, on the other hand, sports a 64 MP sensor and an f/1.8 lens with OIS. A 12 MP ultra wide module (f/2.2), a 5 MP macro camera, and a 5 MP depth sensor are also included. Those figures may not make Galaxy A52/A52s users envious, but the new model does come with some improvements.

For better Night mode photographs, the new chipset can fuse up to 12 images. In Portrait mode, it also uses two cameras to provide a clearer distinction between the subject and the background. It also features intelligence that allows it to choose the ideal frame rate for recording video based on the ambient light.

The battery capacity increased by 500 mAh from the A52 series to 5,000 mAh. Charging stays at 25W, which is the same as on the Galaxy S22, albeit with a smaller 3,700 mAh battery.

Specifications
Display 6.5-inch FHD AMOLED
Maximum refresh rate 120Hz
Chipset Exynos 1280
RAM 6GB
Storage 128GB, expandable up to 1TB
Rear cameras 64MP main (f/1.8), 12MP ultrawide (f/2.2), 5MP macro (f/2.4), 5MP depth (f/2.4)
Front camera 32MP (f/2.2)
Operating system Android 12 with One UI 4.1
Battery 5,000 mAh
Charging 25W wired
Samsung Galaxy A33 5G

The Galaxy A33 5G is similar in size to the A33, however the display is smaller at 6.4″ and the refresh rate is reduced to 90 Hz. It’s still an FHD+ resolution Super AMOLED panel. This is a significant upgrade over the A32 5G’s 60 Hz LCD with HD+ resolution. It also has a better display than the latest Galaxy A23 and M33 smartphones.

The primary module of the camera holds a 48 MP sensor and an f/1.8 lens with OIS. The ultra wide module has an 8-megapixel sensor, while the front-facing camera is only 13-megapixels (albeit it’s hidden behind a notch rather than a punch hole). The macro camera on the back retains its 5 MP resolution, while the depth sensor is reduced to 2 MP.

The rest of the features are same to those found on the A53 5G, or, to put it another way, superior to those found on the A32 5G. That one had a 5,000 mAh battery as well, but a full charge took about two and a half hours with only 15W charging.

Specifications
Display 6.4-inch FHD AMOLED
Maximum refresh rate 90Hz
Rear cameras 48MP main (f/1.8), 8MP ultrawide (f/2.2), 5MP macro (f/2.4), 2MP depth (f/2.4)
Front camera 13MP (f/2.2)
Chipset Exynos 1280
RAM 6GB
Storage 128GB, expandable up to 1TB
Operating system Android 12 with One UI 4.1
Battery 5,000 mAh
Charging 25W wired

The Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G launch with Android 12 and One UI 4.1. Samsung guarantees that they will receive four Android OS updates and up to five years of security patches.
