On May 7th, 2022, the U.S. Department of State announced the results of the DV-2023 Green Card Lottery. Out of the millions who entered last year’s lottery, 55,000 applicants have been selected to apply for permanent resident status.
- DV2023 entrants can check their entries on the E-DV (Electronic Diversity Visa Program) website. Results will remain posted through Sept. 30, 2023.
- To check your results, you will be required will to provide your entry confirmation number, last name and year of birth.
- If you are selected in the lottery, you will be given instructions in Entrant Status Check about how to apply for immigrant visas for yourself and for eligible family members.
- If selected, you are encouraged to complete the online DS-260 application immediately to schedule an interview appointment at the appropriate U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Note: The State Department will not mail notification letters or notify selectees by email nor will U.S. embassies or consulates provide a list of selectees. The Entrant Status Check webpage is the only way to see selections.
Being chosen in the lottery does not guarantee that a candidate will be granted a green card; rather, it indicates that they are qualified to apply for a diversity visa. If chosen, applicants must complete the green card application process to demonstrate their eligibility to enter the United States.
Filling Form DS-260 (the online immigrant visa application), attending a visa interview at a U.S. Embassy or consulate, and paying any needed government filing costs are all part of the procedure.
