After confirming that popular series Squid Game would be renewed for a second season a few days ago, Netflix is now searching for contestants for a reality show based on its most successful series of all time.
However, it will not be a matter of life and death, as shown in the South Korean dystopian drama.
Squid Game: The Challenge, just like Squid Game, will put 456 participants from across the world against one another in a battle for a $4.56 million prize that only one participant will be able to claim.
Though Netflix has produced a promotional film containing scenes from Squid Game, it has not yet indicated what kinds of difficulties participants will face in Squid Game: The Challenge. In a public statement on the new game show, Netflix vice president of unscripted and documentary series Brandon Riegg praised Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk and noted the series’ worldwide success as one of the reasons Netflix decided to make it a public show.
“We’re grateful for his support as we turn the fictional world into reality in this massive competition and social experiment,” said Riegg. “Fans of the drama series are in for a fascinating and unpredictable journey as our 456 real world contestants navigate the biggest competition series ever, full of tension and twists, with the biggest ever cash prize at the end.”
Recruitment is open now at SquidGameCasting.com. For this reality show, the Front Man is in search of English-language speakers from any part of the world.
