The number of browser extensions available in the Chrome store is both one of the best and worst features of Google Chrome. It’s the best because it provides users with nearly endless ways to improve their Chrome experience, but it’s also the worst since you may not realize how many fantastic extensions you’re missing out on if you never seek for them.
Google’s Chrome browser is one of the most widely used web browsers. This browser is used by millions of people around the world every day. Chrome extensions can be used to improve the functionality of this browser.
With hundreds of thousands of Chrome extensions available today, selecting the proper ones for your browser can be difficult.
Here are a few Google Chrome addons that I recommend;
1. MailTrack
Ever wonder whether your job applications are ever opened? Well, this solves it. It works just as the blue tick function does on WhatsApp.
MailTrack.io is an email tracking app for Gmail that lets you know if the emails you’ve sent have been read or not. Mailtrack extension adds the double check marks to your Gmail.
Some of the features MailTrack offers include;
- See which emails have been read, how long ago and how many times
- Stop asking if your colleagues read your emails
- Access our dashboard and filter emails that have been ‘read’ or ‘not read’
- Extension for Chrome, Firefox and Opera browsers
Find MailTrack extension here.
2. QuillBot
Have you just written down something but you still feel like it needs some flare? That’s where QuillBot comes in.
QuillBot is an excellent paraphrasing tool. It not only increases your productivity, but it does so without compromising the original meaning of the content you’re writing.
If you’re looking for the best paraphrasing tool on the market, this is it. They have many features that make the quality of your content extremely high.
Whether you’re handling a few paragraphs of text or a few thousand words that need to be turned into an exclusive new article, you can ensure that every bit of content is perfect before publishing it to your audience.
The QuillBot extension is available here.
3. Google Keep Chrome Extension
We all take notes, most people actually take them manually, pen and paper. Well, this Chrome Extension solves all the hassle that you go through.
It could just be random thoughts you have, a page that you want to save and read later or an item you want to purchase. When on the page, all you have to do is click the extension’s icon and that’s it.
Another good thing about this is you can download the app on Android or iOS and you will find all that you saved.
Google Keep Chrome Extension can be found here.
4. The Great Suspender
We are all guilty of leaving so many tabs open even when we are no longer using them. The downside is , they lag the computer.
This extension reduces chrome’s memory footprint. Perfect if you have a lot of tabs open at the same time. Tabs that have not been viewed after a configurable length of time will be automagically suspended in the background, freeing up the memory and CPU being consumed by that tab.
Some of the features include;
- Whitelist specific urls or domains that you do not want to suspend
- Optionally show screen capture of tab before it was suspended
- Vastly improves performance when restarting chrome with a large number of open tabs
- Detects tabs playing audio and can prevent them from suspending
- Detects tabs that contain forms with user input and can prevent them from suspending
- Configurable behaviour when browsing offline or on battery power
You can get the extension here.
5.. Awesome Screenshot
Awesome Screenshot is a Chrome extension that provides high-quality screen recording and screenshot capabilities to designers and casual users. Annotations and text can be added to screenshots to provide quick and easy feedback.
The addon lets you submit captured screenshots in a variety of ways. This includes uploading images using the extension, selecting images from your PC, dragging and dropping images, and pasting images into the clipboard.
The best feature I have used is you do not have to leave the page you are on to edit a screenshot, you can snip a specific area of the page and annotate it too.
Some of the features include;
- Screen capture.
- Video capture.
- Image editing.
- Scrolling capture.
- Screen recording.
- File sharing.
