I wrote about what to look for when purchasing a smartphone a while ago. Infinix recently announced the Infinix Note 12 VIP; I have yet to get my hands on one, but from reading and watching numerous reviews, this appears to be a Very Important Phone, that one should own.
So, what are the tech guys praising about this phone?
The Charging Technology
According to Infinix, the phone can charge from 0% to 100% in just 17 minutes. After tests, the majority of reviewers say the phone can be fully charged in just 20-21 minutes. This is ridiculous, and it’s all down to the phone’s 120W charging brick.
Yes, you may be concerned about the phone’s battery life, but Infinix offers extensive charging and protection. The Infinix NOTE 12 VIP has 103 charging and battery safety features that cover the full charging cycle from the charger to the circuit to the battery.
It also has 18 thermal sensors that continuously check the device’s temperature to guarantee that charging is always safe. Infinix promises 800 charging cycles to get the phone to 85 percent battery health after two years.
The Display
The display on the Infinix Note 12 VIP is stunning. It has a 6.7-inch Amoled display with 120Hz capability and a peak brightness of 1002 nits. It also has a Full HD+ resolution and a PPI density of 409. With 120Hz capability, the display is punchier, more powerful, and more vibrant.
Because of its 120Hz display, you will expect the gaming experience to be excellent, as will the content viewing experience. That also accounts for a speedier performance with no touch lag issues. As a plus, you get an always-on display.
RAM
This Infinix Note 12 VIP will have two RAM options, 4GB RAM and 8GB RAM, which will work well with the latest MediaTek Helio G96 processor. The RAM is LPDDR4X and runs at 2133MHz.
Besides, you get a 5GB extended RAM. Virtual RAM is not a novel concept. It has been there for quite some time. The phone then uses internal memory or creates a partition in the storage that serves as RAM. This means that your smartphone can partition parts of its storage and treat it as RAM, allowing for improved memory management and multitasking.
From most reviews, the experience while using this phone is lag free; whether switching apps, playing games, the multi-tasking just ‘hits different’.
Cameras
The Infinix Note 12 VIP is equipped with three cameras. A 108MP Cinemagic Camera with f/1.75 Aperture, a 13MP Ultra-wide-angle Lens with f/2.2 Aperture and a Depth Lens with f/2.4 Aperture.
The shots coming from the smartphone look insane.

The one issue most reviewers have with the camera on this phone is video stabilization. The videos are crispy yet shaky, something I believe can be solved using a software update though.
The phone goes for KES 41,999, which seems like a steal, but a quick check shows prices are already lower than that.
