With the release of its last two episodes, Stranger Things 4 has become the most popular English-language series on Netflix.
The streaming service revealed that the show received 1.15 billion hours of viewing time in the first 28 days.
This places the series second only to Squid Game, which had 1.65 billion hours viewed in its first 28 days and is currently the most-watched show in Netflix history.
Stranger Things 4 was in the top ten on Netflix in 93 countries this weekend, according to the company. Stranger Things is so popular right now that it’s boosting past seasons as well: all four seasons were among Netflix’s six most-watched shows over the weekend.

Netflix, on the other hand, has yet to reveal if the popularity of Stranger Things 4 has had a substantial impact on its subscription levels. In 2021, the company reported its strongest third-quarter subscription growth of the year, thanks in part to Squid Game.
However, in April of this year, Netflix stated that it lost roughly 200,000 customers in the first quarter of 2022 due to a variety of factors, including increased competition and account sharing. The company stated at the time that it is taking steps to improve things.
