Twitter Blue subscribers in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand will soon be able to edit tweets. According to a tweet by Twitter, it will be available to US members “soon.”
We saw an illustration of what edited tweets would look like when the company made one last week. The tweet will appear normally, but there will be a pencil icon next to the date, as well as information indicating the last time the tweet was modified.

Twitter has been promising this feature for quite some time – it revealed in April that it was working on the ability to edit tweets, then stated that it will be available by the end of September. It did miss the deadline slightly, but given how significant a move editable tweets are for the platform, it’s perhaps for the best that the company is taking its time.
The feature is still in testing and may be seen in the Labs section of Twitter Blue, Twitter’s $4.99 per month membership service. You can also only edit certain types of tweets; replies, threads, retweets, and pinned tweets (among others) are not editable.
