Linda Yaccarino, the new CEO of Twitter, has shared her vision for Twitter 2.0, a plan to transform the social media platform into the world’s most accurate real-time information source and a global town square for communication.
In an email to Twitter employees, Yaccarino said that she joined Twitter because she believes that the global town square needs transformation, just like Elon Musk transformed the industries of space exploration and electric vehicles.
She said that Twitter 2.0 would “drive civilization forward through the unfiltered exchange of information and open dialogue about the things that matter most to us.”
Yaccarino said that Twitter 2.0 would allow users to access the insights and perspectives of brilliant and diverse voices, as well as to express their own opinions freely. She said that Twitter is on the verge of making history, and that everything is possible with a clear vision and hard work.
She also asked for the collaboration and innovation of Twitter employees, partners, and creators, saying that they all have a responsibility for the success of Twitter 2.0. She encouraged them to “think big”, “transform”, and “start from first principles”, questioning their assumptions and building something new from the ground up.
She said that it is rare to have the opportunity to create a new future for every person on the planet, and that is why she is here with all of them.
She concluded her email with a motivational message: “Let’s dig our heels in (4 inches or flat!) and build Twitter 2.0 together.”
