As people continue to find new ways to enjoy their sports and general home entertainment, an app seems to be topping the charts on the playstore.
On Android TV, Kodi is the most popular app right now, understandably so. Most users are seeming trying to evade the hefty subscriptions by broadcast satellite providers or the annyoing ad-filled websites currently available.
Recently, I wrote a piece on how to enjoy hassle-free football streaming. Today, I’ll talk Kodi and why you should also try it.
What is Kodi?
Kodi is a free, open-source media player that has been around for than two decades and was created with home entertainment in mind. The Xbox Media Center software was initially created by Microsoft for the original Xbox (XBMC). After Microsoft abandoned the Xbox platform, the program evolved and expanded significantly. The non-Microsoft team behind what is now known as Kodi has created its own fan and developer community.
Kodi is controlled by the non-profit XBMC Foundation, unlike other streaming software firms like Android TV or Plex. Thousands of coders and developers all over the world are constantly updating and improving the software. Installing add-ons or builds to personalize Kodi is now possible, and they’re all free.
Kodi runs on Windows, Linux, Android, Raspberry Pi and macOS, iOS, tvOS.
What does Kodi do?
Not just sports. Kodi lets you to access music, photographs, videos, and TV shows stored on one device and play them on another after installation. It also has the ability to broadcast and record live television, as well as support for electronic program guides and smartphone apps that allow you to use your phone as a remote control.
Is Kodi legal?
Yes. It is perfectly legal to download and use Kodi for managing and playing media files that you own. The software is open-source and free, and it’s as safe as any other trustworthy app on your device. The add-ons in the Official Kodi Add-on Repository (those that are natively available within the Kodi App) are likewise fine to use. Kodi, too, has an official stance against piracy.
How do you install it?
Go to the Play Store and search for Kodi and install. As simple as that. But how do you access live sports?
This is where add-ons come in.
