Artificial intelligence research company OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT Enterprise on Monday, a paid corporate version of its popular conversational chatbot ChatGPT.
The new product aims to bring ChatGPT’s advanced natural language abilities to businesses with enterprise-grade security, unlimited usage, faster performance and other customizable features, according to OpenAI.
“We believe AI can assist and elevate every aspect of our working lives and make teams more creative and productive,” said OpenAI in the announcement. “Today marks another step towards an AI assistant for work that helps with any task, is customized for your organization, and that protects your company data.”
Since ChatGPT’s public launch in November, OpenAI said it has seen “unprecedented demand” from enterprises, with more than 80% of Fortune 500 companies using ChatGPT accounts registered with corporate email domains.
Early adopters include Block, Canva, Carlyle, Estée Lauder, PwC and Zapier, who OpenAI said are using ChatGPT Enterprise for tasks like crafting communications, accelerating coding, exploring business questions and assisting creative work.
ChatGPT Enterprise removes all usage caps and performs up to two times faster than the free research version, according to OpenAI. It also expands the chatbot’s maximum context length four-fold to 32,000 tokens, enabling ChatGPT to process longer, more complex prompts.
The product meets “enterprise-grade security and privacy standards,” with encrypted data storage and transfers, no model training on customer data, and SOC 2 compliance, OpenAI said.
An admin console for user management, SSO and domain verification aims to enable large-scale deployments. OpenAI says it will not access or store customer conversation data.
ChatGPT Enterprise is available starting today to select customers, with plans to expand access over the coming weeks, OpenAI said.
The company teased upcoming features like customization through linked business apps, self-serve options for smaller teams, and tools tailored to specific functions like marketing and customer support.
“We’re onboarding as many enterprises as we can over the next few weeks,” said the company.
