For the first time, Women’s Super League (WSL) clubs will appear in the next installment of the EA Sports Fifa football game.
Fifa 23 will include clubs from England and France’s top flight, as well as international women’s teams.
This comes after the revelation that Chelsea star Sam Kerr will be the first female player to appear on the game’s global cover.
The game will be available for pre-order on September 30th.
Female footballers have previously only appeared on regional covers, with American Alex Morgan and Canadian Christine Sinclair on the North American versions of Fifa 16 with Argentina’s Lionel Messi.
This year’s edition will be EA Sports’ final Fifa-branded game, as the company’s collaboration with world football’s governing body comes to an end.
Aside from providing more alternatives for female soccer fans, FIFA 23 includes cross-play functionality and what EA calls “the next evolution of HyperMotion2 technology” for a more realistic gameplay experience.
FIFA 23 will also include both world cup editions: the men’s competition in Qatar in 2022 and the women’s competition in Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
FIFA 23 will be released on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X platforms.
